Boston College hockey No. 1 team in the country

Boston College hockey had a massive weekend, picking up a pair of wins over No. 7 ranked Michigan State, and in USCHO's latest poll, BC is the new No. 1 team in the nation.
Previous number 1, Minnesota, lost both of their matchups with Big Ten foe Wisconsin at home. Denver, who bested the Eagles in Conte Forum last weekend, was stunned by unranked Augustana at home in a shootout loss on Friday. BC began the season at No. 6 but with an overtime win at (then No. 1) Quinnipiac and a win against Long Island, they jumped to 3. Despite the loss against Denver, the Eagles swept MSU to jump to No. 1.
This allowed for the Eagles to jump two slots into the number 1 spot, receiving 36 of the 51 votes. This marks the first time BC has been ranked number 1 since the March 15, 2021 edition of the poll.
Aside from BC, the Hockey East is well represented, with Providence (7), Boston University (9), New Hampshire (15), Massachusetts (18) and Maine (20) rounding out the list.
