Boston College 3, UConn 0: Another sweep in the books

Boston College grabbed a 3-0 win over Connecticut Saturday night following their overtime win versus the Huskies Friday, as they pick up the weekend sweep in Jacob Fowler's first career shutout.
The Eagles got on the board early, with a blocked shot giving Gabe Perreault and Will Smith a 2-on-0 in which they'd go tic-tac-toe before Smith finally tapped it in to give BC the 1-0 lead five minutes into the first period.
From there, it was a back-and-forth but scoreless game, though there were plenty of chances on both ends. Both teams had roughly 30 shots and went 0-for-4 on the power play.
But, with three and a half minutes to go in the third period Cutter Gauthier picked up a breakout pass in BC's zone and sped through the neutral zone before beating a defender with a cut to the middle, and with it a 1-on-1 between Gauthier and the UConn defender, he sniped one past Ethan Haider to give BC a 2-0 lead.
Oskar Jellvik, who's been moved to Gauthier's line after a goal-fest to start his year, added to the scoresheet with an empty-netter about a minute after Gauthier's tally to seal the win for the Eagles.
BC has a single matchup Friday afternoon against Notre Dame before taking on Harvard Sunday.
